Tailored Financing for the Transition
17-01-2024
For the transition of the chemical industry to producing products using non-fossil raw materials, tailored financing is essential. Program leader for Financing Angelique Erkenbosch explains the role of the Green Chemistry Accelerator and its financial engine.
Green Chemistry Accelerator
Scaling up a green chemistry company is a complex challenge, particularly in securing customer commitment and financing for a pilot/demo plant. The Green Chemistry Accelerator assists these companies in overcoming their specific barriers to increase market adoption and attract the right investors. Following a successful first round, a new program commenced in autumn 2023.
Call for Action for Green Chemistry Entrepreneurs: A new program will also start in autumn 2024. We have spots for 5 companies. Let us know if you are interested in participating.
Financial Engine for Green Chemistry
In the Financial Engine for Green Chemistry, approximately 30 financiers are collaborating to help green chemistry startups build viable companies. To achieve this, we focus on (a) guiding entrepreneurs so they know what to do in various scaling phases, and (b) realizing an appropriate financing offer for each scaling phase.
The following activities are scheduled for 2024:
Development of a Due Diligence Template for Green Chemistry in collaboration with KopGroep Circulair Financieren.
- Each quarter, we organize a day for Scaling Tables. During these Scaling Tables, various financiers from the Financial Engine for Green Chemistry discuss the scaling and financing strategy of a specific green chemistry case. This has proven to be highly valuable for both the participating companies and the involved financiers.
- At the end of 2023, GCNE advocated for a Circular Deal for the chemical industry. Part of this involves public-private cooperation for 1 billion in patient risk capital for scaling new innovative enterprises focused on breakthrough technologies in green chemistry. In 2024, we will be laying the groundwork for this.
