Critical Chemicals Alliance – Europe Embraces a Chemical Industry Facing Major Competitive Disadvantages**

To preserve industry, we must now provide the EU with concrete modernisation pathways for existing facilities, while also introducing innovative processes and molecules. We must put concrete proposals on the table for EU legislation. Europe wants to preserve, modernise and make its chemical industry more sustainable. But how can we ensure that companies actually invest in new production? That was the focus of the next step at the Critical Chemicals Alliance General Assembly, held on 8 October in Creutzwald, France. Groene Chemie, Nieuwe Economie was there. For GCNE, the priority is clear: existing production and new sustainable chemistry need each other. Retrofitting and building go hand in hand.

FoamBloxx wants plastic foam to be made exclusively from plant-based or recycled raw materials in the future. The Lelystad-based startup is building a new factory for its ECOfoam, a foam made from at least 50% bio-based or recycled materials, with the goal of eventually making it entirely from them.
