New Opportunities in New Chains

Only by maximizing the use of renewable resources and implementing new processes based on green electricity can the chemical manufacturing sector achieve the 2050 climate goals.

The transition from fossil to renewable resources requires significant organizational adjustments within the sector. Producers will need to collaborate with new suppliers, including parties from the agrifood sector, the (high-tech) manufacturing industry, and recycling companies. This necessitates new supply chains with unique characteristics. Additionally, these transitions are often initiated by tech startups with limited influence.

To support these innovative new players, the platform Groene Chemie, Nieuwe Economie assists them in forming new chains and scaling up their innovative technologies.

Activities

This support is concretely provided through participation in growth funds and proposals for growth funds. Currently, the approved Biobased Circular growth fund program is active. This application was submitted by Stichting Groene Chemie, Nieuwe Economie and TKI Agri&Food through the departmental route with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK).

Groene Chemie, Nieuwe Economie is also involved in the growth fund programs for:

  • Circular Plastic NL (forming chains between waste processors and the chemical sector)
  • NextGen HighTech (innovative electrification)
  • FutureCarbon (materials based on CO₂)

Additionally, participation is sought in other national and European funds through various innovation routes.

Support is also provided for scaling promising game-changers via the Accelerator program.
