GCNE Community Event: Go-to-Market as a Catalyst for Green Chemistry

02-07-2026

More than 70 entrepreneurs, investors, and partners from the GCNE network gathered on July 1 at Cleantech Park Arnhem for an inspiring day focused entirely on scaling up and market development.

The day began with a behind-the-scenes look at innovative companies in the park, including Plantics, followed by a networking lunch.

In the afternoon, one question was central: Why do Green Chemistry ventures often not break through faster, even though the technology is available?

During an interactive session, Peter van Gelderen (Icos Capital) and Gijs van de Molengraft (GRITD) guided participants through the importance of a smart go-to-market strategy. Their message was clear: successful scaling is not just about technology, but primarily about the route to market. Entrepreneurs who focus early on customer validation and strategic partnerships can grow faster and require less capital than following the traditional path from pilot to factory.

The numerous questions and discussions underscored that go-to-market is one of the most important strategic choices for founders wanting to scale.

This is also evident from a study by Gijs van de Molengraft (Gritd) and Anieke Wierenga (ScaleUp Practitioners) commissioned by the Green Chemistry New Economy platform. Alternative Go-To-Market Strategies for Green Chemistry Ventures, which elaborates on key insights, strategies, and practical guidelines. A must-read for every entrepreneur looking to grow to market faster and more capital-efficiently.

The day concluded with a gathering, and as always, the Community Event provided ample space to share experiences and forge new connections among entrepreneurs, investors, and other partners within the GCNE network.
