BioBased Circular Team Launches

18-01-2024

With the appointment of the full team, the BioBased Circular Growth Fund Program 2024 has officially commenced. This year, the first call for projects will be announced. This marks the initial concrete steps towards large-scale circular production of, among other things, construction materials, packaging, and textiles that are appealing to everyone.

The BioBased Circular team consists of the following four members:

  • Herman Wories, Director. Herman has been involved with BioBased Circular from the very beginning and brings along a wealth of experience in areas such as business development, innovation management, and R&D, along with his extensive network in both industry and academia.
  • Edwin Hamoen, Deputy Director. Edwin was also closely involved in the development of the program. He has gained extensive experience in biobased innovation from both academic institutions and innovative SMEs and large companies. He is a true connector who brings together industry, knowledge institutions, and governments in effective partnerships.
  • Kirsten Steinbusch, Program Manager. Kirsten has successfully launched several biobased startups. Within the program, she leverages her entrepreneurial experience to maximize the chances of successful scaling and market introduction for both individual companies and entire value circles.
  • Rick Passenier, Program Manager. Rick has made his mark in driving sustainable transformations in the chemical industry. His extensive knowledge in product development and organizing new supply chains supports an accelerated transition within the chemical manufacturing industry.

The initiators of BioBased Circular are the Platform for Green Chemistry, New Economy (GCNE), and TKI Agri & Food. GCNE Chairman Arnold Stokking stated: 'The team members collectively possess exactly the right broad and deep expertise needed to realize the transition to a circular chemical manufacturing industry. I am very pleased to see the level of drive with which they have already started.'

Kees de Gooijer (CIO TKI Agri & Food): 'Now that we have the necessary strength, we are immediately starting the implementation of our plans. The team is already working hard to translate ideas into concrete actions. For instance, we are currently working on a call for projects that will be opened later this year. I am fully confident that we can make significant progress towards sustainable chemistry with this team.'
